P2P Course Information and Runner's Notes Pier To Peak 2008 Runner’s Notes: Aid Station are located at approximately at the following miles: 2.4 - In front of the Mission on Los Olivos 4.1 - at the corner of Foothill and Mountain Drive –the reservoir 6.0 - on Gilbraltor 7.5 - at the Hairpin Turn 9.0 – on Gilbraltor 10.7 – on Gilbraltor at East Camino Junction 12. – on East Camino Cielo This is an OPEN TO TRAFFIC COURSE at ALL TIMES Runners are to run in the bike lane or as close to the right hand side of the road at all times except on Haley Street when you run at the left curb. There are two distinct crossing points on the course where extreme caution is needed: Crossing at APS…not much traffic but it is a three way intersection At the left hand turn at Mountain and Foothill…runners must stay right until the crossing, there should be a SBPD at this intersection…do not take the tangent but go to the marked crossing… DO NOT RUN ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD! Residents live up Gilbraltor and have not had much traffic of late due to the fires…they will not expect to see you on the roads so KEEP RIGHT, especially on the blind curves…traffic coming up the hill should be aware of you…but exercise caution…and there is one very tight one lane area due for repair and re-construction…Shuttle will also be coming down the hill with passengers…so, I can not stress this enough…Stay Right! You will take a left turn into Look Out Park and bear right at the fork to complete the run to the finish line at the top of La Cumbre Peak up at the Look Out Tower. Carry GU, or Power Gels or some sort of energy bar/suppliment…you will need it. Shuttles will start runs back to the Cota & Santa Barbara Parking Lot at 9:30…you need your bib to ride…parking your car options are: Use the Garden Street Lots near the waterfront and start area and walk to them later Use a city lot near Cota and Santa Barbara Streets and walk to the start Find on the street parking but be sure there is no time limit…SBPD does ticket on Sundays in many areas Spectators are welcome in the park but may not drive into it…Please ask them to park beyond the entrance as the there is space to pull over beyond the entrance gate. Have Fun, enjoy the views, use water as needed…not over your head…resources are limited as we need to haul this up…drink it…works much better… And did I mention: STAY TO THE RIGHT CURB/Edge of the Road!!!!
